New social media platform links hardcore music fans

A new site is hoping to carve out a niche in the crowded social media world by reaching the inner geek of hardcore music fans. Called Fans and accessible at fans.com, the platform lets music lovers trade insights on shows, swap news stories and browse through a database that already has some five million past concerts.

Mexico's top selling singer-songwriter, he was adored throughout Latin America, Spain and Hispanic communities in the United States for his heartfelt ballads and joyous mariachi tunes. Juan Gabriel, who had a heart attack in Santa Monica on Sunday, delighted packed auditoriums across the world with his flamboyant dress sense -- sequined costumes, a cape and a perfectly coiffed pompadour -- as well as his energetic stage persona.
